 Letter to Frank Cunningham 8-01-11

Hi Frank, I went to the 610 mass reunion last weekend in Philadelphia. I had hoped to see you there.
I learned that Leroy Carlson had passed away in 2006. I called his wife Jinette and talked for quite a while. Laroy retired right after Yokota. I don't think he wanted to ,but it sounded like they wanted him to go to Vietnam or something. He came home and announced that his papers were in to retire. They bought a ranchette in Milford Del. They lived there for 12 years. Leroy had a stroke and later expired from congestive heart failure.
I worked nights with him for at least a year. I was very young and he took me under his wing. He was a good man. I went to college for refrigeration from 1975 to 77. I pumped gas at night on the NJ Turnpike. One night I saw an old Land Cruiser make its way into the pumps. I was surprised to see it was Leroy Carlson. We talked for as long as I could and off he went. I never suspected that I might never see him again.
Frank the pictures on your site are incredible. They are like a collage of our time in Yokota. I love the bars and all the GUys etc.  Did you know Clyde Stroman? He and his wife ran the Place bar. He and I became good friends. Was his wife Midorico?  How about Noah Barr. I think he was auto pilot. Neither of these Guys are on the Alumni list.
Frank I hope your well. Send me your phone # . Id love to chat. Actually Id like to drive up and see you. Buy us lunch. Thanks again for the pictures. That is so cool. You are the man.
 Later. Chuck Carr
