Leo Prettyman and I joined the USAF on the same day, Aug 15 1966. but not at the same place. We were in Sister squadrons in basic training. We actually met later  Oct 1  '66 on our first day of 50531 Tech training at Shepard AF Base and both went to Yokota AB Japan, 610 MASS next.  We were both scheduled to fly out of Travis on 30 Dec. '66.. I did but Leo did not. Prior to getting to Travis Leo had met a girl in San Francisco and had a great time. He paid a Pax Service Airman, if I remember it right it cost him $5, to delay his departure from Travis  for a few days and returned to SF to party over the New Years holiday. At Yokota I went to work at Ramp Svs for SSgt Morris Worley and Leo worked Ramp on SSgt Bob Santy's shift.  Later Leo moved to the Air Freight office working for the superintend of Air Freight where he made SSgt . Dec 1969 Leo and I PCSed to Cam Rahn Bay Vietnam where I stayed  but Leo went to the detachment at Ban Me Tuit.   In Jan 1970 Leo and I both PCSed to Norton AFB where we both then  got out of the Air Force on Aug 15 1970. I remember shaking his hand and parting ways never to see each other again.  I rentered to AF in 1972 and years later saw in the Air Force Times that Leo and I were promoted to SMSgt at the same time in 1988.  During those four years many of us air freight guys followed much the same path of assignments but no one else went with me as close as Leo did.      RIP Leo Prettyman
