Can anyone tell me if this refers to Lieutenant Heidel who worked as a Traffic Control D.O. circa 1968-1970? (I wouldn't want to mis-identify anyone.) But whoever this gentleman may be: God bless you & R.I.P.

It was always fun working with Lt. Heidel whenever he was the Traffic Control Duty Officer. Perhaps that sounds strange, but even though he was serious about his work and mission accomplishment, he was was always humorous with a sunny disposition towards everyone. He was a very capable & respected officer who got the job done well but always kept it light. I'll never forget his signature statement (if I may): "I'm just a f*****g 2nd Lieutenant!": though he took the mission very seriously, he never took himself too seriously, or to be 'better' than anyone else. I looked up to him then as not only a good officer, but, maybe more importantly, a good man. I often thought about him years later. God bless & RIP, Sir!

Dear Mary, It was a pleasure and an honor to serve with your brother, Lt Robert Heidel. He was truly a great man. I still often think of him fondly so many years later. He did the Air Force and his family proud! God bless him, you, & all his loved ones.
