Do you have any favorite stories or notable events to tell us about while you were at Yokota?

I was TDY to 610th in the summer of 1967. I was sent from 438 MASS, McGuire AFB, NJ. When I arrived after a 16 hour flight from SUU, I was met by the Traffic DO and taken off the airplane and told I was already 15 minutes late for work. He then escorted me to Traffic and I pulled an eight hour shift before checking into VOQ. Welcome to Yokota!

During that summer a Northwest Boeing 707 caught fire on the apron and the fire completely gutted the interior. I assisted in the unloading of the baggage, and the foam used to fight the fire, completely destroyed my boots.

I retired in October 2005, after 35 years as a grocery distribution executive. Since retiring we have enjoyed traveling, volunteering at several non-profits organizations, hunting, fishing, and enjoying the grandkids.
